Abstract (English): Oxpemul stelae 22 and 23 were located in 2008 by the research team from the Autonomous University of Campeche, headed by Dr. William Folan. Only the lower portions of both monuments have been preserved; however, hieroglyphic cartouches can still be identified on their sides. The first analyses proposed by Robichaux (2009, 2010) proved deficient in their interpretation; therefore, in this paper new reading proposals are presented, based on recent epigraphic and iconographic studies applied to the stelae. This will allow us to present new information regarding both the chronological and historical context of the ancient city of Oxpemul. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Las estelas 22 y 23 de Oxpemul fueron localizadas en el año 2008 por el equipo de trabajo de la Universidad Autónoma de Campeche, encabezado por el Dr. William Folan. Sólo se han preservado las partes inferiores de ambos monumentos, sin embargo, en sus laterales se conservan cartuchos jeroglíficos que pueden ser identificados. Los primeros análisis propuestos por Robichaux (2009, 2010) resultaron deficientes en la interpretación, por lo que en este escrito se presentarán las nuevas propuestas de lectura con base en los recientes estudios epigráficos e iconográficos aplicados a las estelas. Lo anterior nos permitirá exponer nueva información referente tanto al contexto cronológico como histórico de la antigua ciudad de Oxpemul. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
