Abstract (English): The article focuses on the maternal traits of God in the Scriptures, analyzing how divine mercy is expressed through images and terms related to maternal care. It highlights the Hebrew root רֶחֶם (r?m), which links the “female breast” with mercy, and its development in the Greek translation of the Septuagint, where terms such as metra, koilia, and splanchna reflect different dimensions of divine care and tenderness. In the New Testament, Jesus embodies this maternal mercy through his gestures and words, integrating both maternal and paternal attitudes in his dealings with others, and showing that the love of God is known and proclaimed through the human experience of maternal love. Thus, motherhood becomes a theological paradigm for understanding divine and human mercy and care. [Extracted from the article]
[Extracted from the article]
