The main objective of this study is to identify design patterns in the attire of noble women from five cities in the Usumacinta region--Yaxchilán, Bonampak, Piedras Negras, Dos Caobas, and El Cayo--during the Late Classic period (250-900 CE), which, in our view, functioned as visual markers of identity and belonging to a specific region from the seventh century through the first half of the eighth century CE. Taken together, this research highlights the close relationship between dress, symbolism, identity, and politics in Maya culture. The formal diversity of the textile designs analyzed here suggests that shared cosmological principles may have been visually articulated through textile art, which functioned as a fundamental medium for expressing, legitimizing, and sustaining the link between dynastic power, the order of the world, and the sacred. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es identificar los patrones de diseño en las vestimentas de mujeres nobles de cinco ciudades de la región del Usumacinta--Yaxchilán, Bonampak, Piedras Negras, Dos Caobas y El Cayo--durante el Clásico Tardío (250-900 d. C.), que, a nuestro parecer, funcionan como un marcador visual de identidad y pertenencia a una región concreta desde el siglo Vii hasta la primera mitad del siglo Viii de nuestra era. En conjunto, esta investigación subraya la estrecha relación entre vestimenta, simbolismo, identidad y política en la cultura maya. La diversidad formal de los diseños textiles aquí analizados apunta a que principios cosmológicos comunes pudieron articularse visualmente por medio del arte textil, el cual funcionó como un medio fundamental para expresar, legitimar y sostener el vínculo entre el poder dinástico, el orden del mundo y lo sagrado.
