| Abstract (English): | The article analyzes the role and experiences of the women and families of combatants during the irregular war in Spain between 1936 and 1952, focusing on the families of the civil guards and the Republican guerrillas. It highlights that, while the women linked to the anti-Franco resistance suffered direct violence, torture, and rape as part of Francoist repression, the wives and children of the civil guards lived under constant fear, precariousness, and social stigmatization, but were not subjected to systematic violence by the guerrilla. Additionally, the difficult living conditions in the barracks-homes, family tensions, and inequality in access to pensions and aid are examined, revealing the asymmetry in violence and gender roles between both sides during the conflict. The study is based on unpublished documentary sources and oral testimonies, providing a comprehensive perspective on the human and social complexity of the irregular war in Francoist Spain. | Abstract (Spanish): | El presente artículo tiene por objetivo analizar el papel desempeñado por las mujeres y familiares de los combatientes en los escenarios de guerra irregular en España entre 1936 y 1952, así como examinar sus experiencias y las diversas formas de violencia a las que se vieron sometidas. La guerra irregular enfrentó al bando rebelde y, posteriormente, a la dictadura franquista contra la resistencia armada antifranquista, en cuyo contexto las mujeres desempeñaron un papel fundamental en ambos bandos. Asimismo, esta investigación se propone ser la primera en incorporar a las familias de los miembros de la Guardia Civil. Para ello, se recurre tanto a la bibliografía especializada como a un conjunto de fuentes documentales inéditas procedentes de diversos archivos españoles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
