This article analyzes the character of Johnny Carter in Julio Cortázar's The Pursuer through Gilbert Durand's anthropological structures of the imaginary. It explores how Johnny embodies the synthetic structure of the nocturnal regime, acting as a mediator between the temporal and the eternal, the rational and the mystical. Using tools such as mythocriticism and mythanalysis, the study demonstrates that music, the perception of time, and the search for the sacred in Johnny reflect universal human conflicts. The analysis is enriched with references to critics such as Jaime Alazraki, Evelyn Picon Garfield, Gaston Bachelard, María Teresa Benítez, and Martin Heidegger, who have studied Cortázar's work and its philosophical and literary dimensions from complementary perspectives. Este artículo analiza el personaje de Johnny Carter en El perseguidor de Julio Cortázar a través de las estructuras antropológicas del imaginario de Gilbert Durand. Se explora cómo Johnny encarna la estructura sintética del régimen nocturno, actuando como un mediador entre lo temporal y lo eterno, lo racional y lo místico. Utilizando herramientas como la mitocrítica y el mitoanálisis, se demuestra que la música, la percepción del tiempo y la búsqueda de lo sagrado en Johnny reflejan conflictos humanos universales. El análisis se enriquece con referencias a críticos como Jaime Alazraki, Evelyn Picon Garfield, Gaston Bachelard, María Teresa Benítez y Martin Heidegger, quienes han estudiado la obra de Cortázar y sus dimensiones filosóficas y literarias desde perspectivas complementarias.
