Abstract (English): The following article proposes to make a revision of the trajectory, cognitive maps and dominions that have been developed from the rise of Cultural Consumption studies in Latin America, from the evolution of works of some authors who have placed them as key axes for the study of the communication and the Latin American social transformations. Beginning from the idea that in the organization of the Academic Field of the Communication in Mexico, the approach of the studies of the culture was fundamental, and within them, the studies of Cultural Consumption had an extremely important participation; it is for this reason that is necessary to revise and organize what has been contributed to the understanding of the present situation of communication studies in Mexico. Abstract (Spanish): El presente trabajo pretende hacer una revisión de la trayectoria, los mapas y dominios cognitivos que se han desarrollado a partir del surgimiento de los estudios sobre el Consumo Cultural en América Latina, a partir de la evolución de las obras de algunos autores que los colocaron como ejes dave para el estudio de la comunicación y las transformaciones sociales latinoamericanas. Se parte de la idea de que en la organización del Campo Académico de la Comunicación en México, el enfoque de los estudios de la cultura fueron fundamentales, y dentro de ellos, los estudios del Consumo Cultural tuvieron una participación sumamente importante; es por ello que es necesario una revisión y organización de lo que ha aportado para entender la situación actual de los estudios de la comunicación en México.
