| Abstract (English): | This article analyses and describes a seldom disseminated and used technique in Latin America: the telephonic interview. This technique was used in a PhD thesis studying social and epidemical impact on patients treated by a Medicinal Plants Program at the University of Chapingo (México). Interviewing the patients of a University Program allowed knowledge of their socio-epidemical profile (quantitative data) as well as to learn about their experiences during the therapeutical process (qualitative data); this aspect turned out to be very enriching to the research itself. | Abstract (Spanish): | Este artículo tiene como propósito la descripción y el análisis de una de las técnicas de menor difusión y uso en América Latina: la entrevista telefónica. Ésta se usó en una tesis doctoral para estudiar el impacto social y epidemiológico de pacientes atendidos por el Programa Universitario de Plantas Medicinales en la Universidad Autónoma Chapingo (México). Se destacan tanto asuntos teóricos como prácticos asociados a la entrevista telefónica. Se muestran, de manera breve, los resultados obtenidos al aplicarla para describir y reflexionar en tomo a la experiencia personal y de formación científica del investigador. El hecho de entrevistar a los pacientes de un programa universitario permitió tanto la comprensión del perfil socio-epidemiológico del paciente (con datos cuantitativos) como sus vivencias durante el proceso terapéutico (datos cualitativos).
