Abstract: El artículo presenta un análisis de la situación política y social de Venezuela tras la muerte del gobernante Hugo Chávez Frías, con énfasis en el aspecto económico. El texto ofrece un resumen de las políticas de estatización instauradas por el gobierno del fallecido presidente Chávez, a la par que discute algunos de sus correlatos sociales, como devaluación de la moneda, escasez de alimentos e inflación. Se discute también el fenómeno de criminalidad en Venezuela.
