Summary:Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease origin (CVD) is the leading cause of death in Colombia and worldwide, being a public health priority. In response from research, Cardiecol Program has been settled. After phase 1 of foundation between 2012-2013 continues the phase 2 of expansion from 2015 to 2017 for the consolidation of a network that generate, synthesize and transmit the knowledge to cope with the complexity of the Cardiovascu­lar Health - CVH and to link with stakeholders and decision makers in the country. The program is divided into four structural units Synthesis and Transfer of Knowledge; Policy and Economic Analysis; Management and Data Analysis and Biobank) and 6 projects which are three prospective cohort studies, two clinical trials and a community trial. In addition to train researchers, the program will generate scientific publications; educational materials for patients and caregivers; scientists and citizen participation events; applications and standardized research processes.
