The article analyzes the long-term effectiveness of riparian buffer zones designed to reduce groundwater nitrate from agriculture. Topics include the testing of vegetation types including trees, switchgrass, fescue, native plants, and a control buffer; the impact of buffer types and widths on dissolved organic carbon (DOC) as well as groundwater nitrates; and the results of the study in the middle coastal plain of North Carolina. |
