Abstract (English): The article focuses on Regulation (EU) 2024/1157 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which updates the regulatory framework regarding the transfer of waste in the context of the European Green Deal. This regulation aims to improve waste management by promoting the circular economy and the recovery of waste, and it establishes control and authorization procedures for the transfer of waste between member states and with third countries. Additionally, it outlines the notification, information, and monitoring obligations that the parties involved in waste transportation must comply with, as well as the conditions for the import and export of such waste. Abstract (Spanish): Una de las grandes cruzadas dirigidas desde el Pacto Verde Europeo va contra los residuos y pretende mejorar en lo posible su gestión, pues la ingente acumulación de residuos es uno de los problemas más importantes a los que se enfrenta actualmente la humanidad. En ese contexto, el presente Reglamento fue creado para actualizar el marco técnico-normativo de los traslados de residuos, incorporando en ellos los principios básicos de la economía circular ya presentes en el régimen general recogido por la Directiva Marco de residuos 2008/98. El resto de las previsiones refundidas por este Reglamento se sostienen sobre las obligaciones de notificación, información y autorización diseñadas al efecto sobre estos traslados desde 1989, año en que se firma el Convenio de Basilea sobre el Control de los Movimientos Transfronterizos de los Desechos Peligrosos y su Eliminación.
