| Summary: | The purpose of this study was to determine if my practice of implementing graphing calculator technology with middle school students produced academic gains and an increase in attitudes towards mathematics. Twenty-eight 6th and 7th grade students participated in this study. Academic and attitudinal data were collected through student surveys, pre and post problem solving tests, journal prompts, direct classroom observations, and a focus group discussion. Results revealed that students were more positive towards mathematics and graphing calculator use. Problem solving achievement also increased when graphing calculators were used as a tool. |
