Abstract: The article discusses a need for a better system to represent collaborative contribution to published works and notes the lack of coordination among contributorship efforts in the scholarly publishing community. Topics discussed include the need for a controlled vocabulary of contributor roles and mechanisms to capture contribution tags within scholarly metadata ecosystem and a workshop held at Harvard University to explore the topic of authorship with representatives from the publishing world.
