Abstract: The article advocates for the possible automated personalization of Web-based map generation through the use of data-mining techniques. Topics addressed include commentary on how this process reverses the traditional cartography model of producing single maps for large populations, an outline of several concepts and processes necessary for effective automated map personalization, and discussion of the risk of personalization leading to social fragmentation and isolation.
