Abstract: For people who like to dress up their yard or patio with seasonal flowers or small ornamental bushes, planters offer a nice addition to in-ground landscaping. Planters give the option of moving small shrubs or flowers around the yard, or placing them in spots that can't accommodate a permanent planting bed. The article presents tips on construction of planters. To provide a stable base for the router, one has to clamp the workpiece to a similar-size piece. Then a board is attached to the table saw's rip fence, a dado blade is installed and the fence is adjusted to cut the tenon cheeks. Since these planters are designed to be used outdoors, it's best to use waterproof glue for assembly. A felt-tipped marker is used to lay out the liner and tray parts on the aluminum flashing stock, and cut out the pieces with metalcutting shears.
