Abstract: • Paper reviewed 84 journal articles during 2010–2020. • Joint impact of corrosion and cumulative effects of seismic loadings should be considered. • Damage assessment methodology for corroded RC bridges based on a reliable damage index is required. This paper systematically reviewed 84 journal articles published from 2010 to 2020 and structured the reviewed literature using the following categories: year-wise number of research articles, journals, country, and citations. Through a bibliometric and content review analysis, the present review found that the existing studies have mostly focused on corrosion effects, and less attention was paid to quantifying seismic damage of corroded RC bridges. It is required to develop a damage assessment methodology for corroded RC bridges based on a reliable damage index, which can consider the cumulative effects of repeated loading cycles during earthquakes combining the impact of corrosion.
