After humble beginnings in 1907 as a small hoist shop in Wickliffe, Ohio, the firm that later became known as the Euclid Road Machinery Co. built the world's first off-highway truck in 1934. At first, narrow margins kept the fledgling firm from competing on a grand scale. But Euclid's 1953 sale to General Motors gave engineers seemingly unlimited resources to design the stuff of contractors' dreams. |
