| Abstract: |
The super-fission model on which is based the neutron multiplicity method used for nondestructive measurements of plutonium mass is examined. It is shown that in order to properly solve the equations of the method the dependence of the calibration coefficients – the neutron detection efficiency and the doubles gate fraction coefficient – on the probability of neutron absorption in the sample being analyzed must be taken into account. This requires multiplicity detectors to be calibrated against plutonium samples, which it is proposed be accomplished using Feynman's approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
