Abstract: A general approach to analyzing the kinetics of the heterogeneous reaction carbon → pyrocarbon is formulated. The approach consists in the sequential determination of the temperature and concentration fields and, further, the kinetic parameters of the growth of pyrocarbon coatings as a combination of the parameters of the growth of crystalline and amorphous pyrocarbon. The results of calculating the temperature fields in a tapered cylindrical fluidized-bed reactor are presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
