| Abstract (English): |
This study aims to characterize the main morphotectonic and neotectonic structures in Mata-Yumuri sector from Baracoa depression, located in the northeast of Guantánamo province. The morphotectonic study was carried out by analyzing the geological information of the area, processing, and preparing morphometric maps using version 3.22.2 of Qgis software, ArcGis desktop 10.8 and Pro. As a result, four sectors with particular morphotectonic characteristics were distinguished in the sub depression, and the complex geomorphological and tectonic constitution is evident because of the combination of highly active endogenous and exogenous processes. It was determined that both the relief and drainage of the area have undergone changes as a result of neotectonic activity, which had its peak during the Upper Pleistocene and Holocene, The system is based on fault systems and free-standing blocks, conditions which are considered to be maintained at present. | Abstract (Spanish): |
