Abstract: In this paper, a single‐fissure rock‐like specimen with various openings is manually prepared for uniaxial compression fracture testing, and the fracture failure mechanical characteristics and crack initiation failure modes of the rock‐like material under the influence of both the fissure openness and the dip angle are studied. First, the evolution law of peak strength and elastic model of fissured rock mass under the combined influence of fissure dip angle and opening degree was analyzed. Second, the evolution mechanism of the crack initiation mode of fissured rock mass caused by changes in opening degree under different fissure dip angles was explored. Finally, the characteristics of failure modes of fissured rock mass affected by opening degree were analyzed. The research results have a certain guiding significance for exploring the mechanical characteristics and fracture evolution mechanism of rock masses with different opening degrees in geotechnical engineering.
