Herein, we have successfully constructed a series of COF/Transition Metals/Pt nano-interface for enhanced visible light-driven H 2 evolution. A record apparent quantum yield (AQY) of 12.8% at 450 nm was achieved due to the photoelectron guiding effect of the transition metals at the interface. [Display omitted] • A series of transition metals were inserted at the interface between COFs and Pt for charge transfer investigation. • A record AQY of 12.8% at 450 nm for photocatalytic H2 evolution was achieved with 0.25 wt% Pt loading. • The Schottky barrier height and redox potential at the interface can be controlled by the transition metals. The interface charge transfer engineering between the covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and the cocatalyst (such as Pt) is of great significance and in high demand for enhanced photocatalytic performance due to the potential barrier and charge backflow at the interface. To address the atomic-level challenge at the interface, we bridged COFs and Pt with transition metals (M = Rh, Au, Ag and Cu) for the first time. Through the coordination between COF and M, we have precisely constructed a series of COFs/M/Pt interfaces using TpBpy as the typical COF photocatalytic platform. Not only can the photoelectron transfer be controlled at the interface, but also a record apparent quantum yield (AQY) of 12.8 % at 450 nm among the TpBpy-based photocatalyst was achieved by the optimized Pt@TpBpy-Rh photocatalyst with the lowest 0.25 wt% Pt loading. The in-depth investigations have shown a dual role of the transition metal at the interface: the electron acceptor to facilitate photoelectron transfer to Pt, and the interval layer to prevent the photoelectrons backflow. Our findings have provided a reliable strategy to control the interface electron transfer between COFs and Pt for enhanced photocatalytic performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
