Abstract: Smart rail systems (SRS) are a comprehensive application of various intelligent technologies in railway transportation systems, which can effectively improve the safety and service of railway transportation. Unfortunately, as SRS maintains a large amount of valuable data, it is vulnerable to credential stuffing and tweaking attacks by hackers. Meanwhile, the current credential checking protocols lack the ability to effectively resist credential tweaking attacks. Therefore, this paper presents an efficient and secure credential monitor (CM) for safeguarding railway passenger accounts in SRS, which can remind railway passengers not to choose an account that is the same or similar to the leaked credentials. Compared with relevant protocol, our CM can reduce the time of railway passenger by 88 % with a slight increase ( 12 % ) in the time of monitoring platform. Meanwhile, the query report size and reply report size in our CM achieve 8 × improvement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
