| Abstract: |
The article focuses on the mechanical properties of Tlalpujahua clay subjected to thermal treatment, specifically examining its ultrasonic fatigue resistance and Vickers hardness. The study employs ultrasonic fatigue testing and Vickers indentation to assess the effects of different thermal treatment temperatures (500 °C, 750 °C, and 1000 °C) on the clay's performance. Results indicate that while thermal treatment enhances hardness and fatigue resistance, particularly at 750 °C, it also introduces brittleness due to microcrack formation at higher temperatures, which may limit its structural applications. The findings underscore the importance of understanding the interplay between thermal treatment, mechanical properties, and material behavior under stress. [Extracted from the article] |
