| Abstract: | The objective of this study was to investigate the microstructure, tensile properties and hydraulic-burst strength of low carbon steel tubes under various induction heating temperatures ranging from 860 °C to 1020 °C. It was found that the microstructure was dominated by martensite with an amount of ferrite. The martensite and ferrite became coarse when higher induction heating temperatures were applied. For tensile properties, the yield strength and tensile strength of low carbon steel tubes increased after receiving the induction heating treatment, but the elongation decreased. The induction heating temperature of 900 °C resulted in the optimal tensile properties of low carbon steel tubes. In hydraulic-burst tests, the peak hydraulic-burst strength was obtained when the induction heating temperature was 900 °C. The findings obtained in this research can be utilized as reference in the development of high-performance seamless carbon steel tubes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
