| Abstract: |
Atom probe tomography and transmission electron microscopy have been used to analyze changes in the microstructure, grain size, and local chemical composition of the W–Cr–Y alloy as a result of vacuum annealing at temperatures of 1000 and 1200°C. In the initial state, the alloy is characterized by grains with an average size of ~1 µm. Particles enriched in yttrium and oxygen with sizes ranging from 10 to 180 nm are located along the grain boundaries. The annealing leads to recrystallization of the material, resulting in decrease in the average grain size to 100 nm at 1000°C and to 270 nm at 1200°C. Additionally, the dissolution of yttrium oxides and the formation of new nanoscale clusters in the intragranular region have been observed. The composition and number density of these clusters depend on the annealing conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
