| Abstract: | This article focuses on recent advancements and challenges in laser manufacturing and additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, which are pivotal in producing high-precision, multifunctional components across industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, and electronics. It highlights key issues including micro-scale process precision, post-processing defects like alpha case formation in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), and the complexities of multi-material integration. The article summarizes eight original research studies addressing topics such as laser micro-hole drilling, optimization of composite coatings, removal of alpha case from superalloys, corrosion resistance improvements in alloys, and simulation-supported fabrication of refractory metals. Emphasizing the integration of experimental and simulation methods, it underscores the importance of intelligent process monitoring and multi-material functionalization for advancing industrial adoption and expanding applications of these manufacturing technologies.
