| Abstract: |
As of 2025, more than 1300 shooters in Serbia are tasked with continuously firing rockets filled with the compound silver-iodide, in order to reduce the size and damage from hail. It is very difficult to implement that work organization in the field conditions, mostly regarding the efficiency. The solution for improvement is the introduction of automatic hail suppression stations, from which, upon proper command, rockets are remotely fired. This paper introduces the scientific idea and implementation of Terrestrial Trunked Radio based sensor network, which is already in service and fully functional as a part of the Ministry of Interior, accompanied with use of thermal sensors for remote command and correction of automatic hail suppression rocket stations operation, mostly the missile trajectory. Large number of sensors which are connected in a network are used to maintain this digital radio system, easily managed remotely and automatically controlled. We presented a case study with a real example, described the system, introduced ballistic experimental techniques and the results, improvements, and conclusions that lead to better, more efficient hail suppression protection.
