| Abstract (English): |
The purpose of this article is to conduct a bibliographic review of scientific articles, books, theses, and reports as a documentary basis, considering the social, environmental, and economic impacts generated by Small Hydropower Projects (SHP) in Colombia. Recent and relevant documents on the proposed topic were selected, and data were extracted from the most up-to-date governmental and independent reports. A detailed examination will be conducted on peak hydropower plants (Power < 5 kW). Thus, the contribution of this paper is to theoretically support the establishment of a clear and effective methodology for the benefit of all stakeholders involved. Community participation in the preliminary study phase is essential for the successful implementation of an SHP and it is concluded that this low-cost technology is ideal for electrifying rural areas in remote locations. A multidisciplinary approach is proposed, analyzing the technology and its social implications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): |
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
