Abstract: Abstract: SEAL is a subproject in the context of the Application Area of the LHC computing grid (LCG) project. The mandate of the SEAL subproject is to provide common foundation, utilities, services and mathematical libraries for the participating experiments. We present the status of the project describing in some detail the underlying foundation and mathematical libraries. We also describe the set of basic components sufficient for development of higher level framework components and specialisations. Such components are a plug-in manager, an object dictionary, basic framework services and scripting services which provide bindings for scripting languages such as Python. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
