Abstract: The general viewpoint for an inventory is like keeping stock of physical items either in home or in shop or in a warehouse. Agricultural productions are being hold in large warehouses over a long duration. Such are released to market when market prices are high and probability of getting desired profit is maximum. Suppose there exist digital space as warehouse and digital-file/digital-contents are assumed as items to keep there for long duration then such situation motivates for creating a digital inventory. Storage of huge files and folders compel the digital device owner to reformat the device time whenever needed. It is a kind of risk and if reformat procedure attempted multiple times, then there is chance that device storage may damage. This paper presents a digital inventory model for digital device where file and folders are taken like items and optimal parameter is device reformat-risk imposed over the time period during the constant and regular utilization. Simulation study is performed to find out optimal time duration for occurrence of first re-format event of the digital system assuming file deletion by user is binomial distributed. File deletion depends on nature of user and classified as DAU-type or DPU-type. Simulation based comparative study is performed to differentiate the two types of users assuming the deletion tendency binomial distributed. It is observed that ERR varies significantly on the behavior of users. For DPU's, the term ERR is positive over the rate with higher peak risk while for DPUs positive intervals are narrower and ERR stabilized at low rate value. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
