| Abstract: |
Slope flows induced by bulk buoyancy sources over an inclined surface in a stratified rotating medium are investigated analytically and numerically. It is shown that these flows can possess significant specific features. In particular, unlike the classical Prandtl model, stationary slope flows can intensify with decrease in the inclination angle of the lower boundary. When rotational effects are taken into account, the emergence of relatively intense cross-slope velocity components is possible. Noticeable flows in a stratified medium can also arise in the absence of buoyancy and momentum sources due to spatial inhomogeneity of exchange coefficients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
