Abstract: Ceramic/metal combine the excellent mechanical properties of metals with the high-temperature stability, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance of ceramics. However, the significant difference in properties between ceramics and metals leads to insufficient wettability of molten metals on ceramic surfaces. Pre-metallization of ceramic surfaces has been shown to effectively enhance the wetting behavior. In this study, high-performance ZrO 2 -based ceramic shells were prepared via material extrusion method. Subsequently, the ceramic surfaces were metallized by electroless nickel plating and then combined with vacuum precision casting. Finally, a small integrated ZrO 2 -based ceramic/Fe-based metal impeller was fabricated. The results show that the hardness values of the ceramic, interface, and metal are 1248.6 HV, 392.2 HV, and 254.4 HV, respectively. The interfacial bonding strength of the ceramic/metal reaches 9.84 MPa. In addition, the ceramic/metal exhibits good corrosion resistance. This study provides a theoretical and technical foundation for the preparation of integrated ceramic/metal impellers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
