| Abstract: | Internet of Things is a rapidly evolving technology that interconnects devices. Though IoT has applications across different sectors and holds multiple advantages, it is prone to many security threats. To secure it, cryptographic algorithms are crucial. Even the most complicated encryption algorithm fails to fulfill its security purpose if the key is compromised. Therefore, to avoid such threats, a strong key schedule is essential. PRESENT cryptography algorithm is very light in implementation and is relatively immune to linear and differential attacks. However, it has a week key schedule, which exposes it to cryptanalytic attacks. Advancements in the cipher breaking techniques in recent days have made it necessary to have high the security levels. To address this gap, an efficient key scheduling method has been proposed to strengthen the resistance of PRESENT lightweight cipher. This paper focuses on the secure transmission of data in IoT environments using the PRESENT lightweight cipher with an enhanced dynamic key scheduling [EDK-PRESENT]. It evaluates a variety of lightweight block ciphers by examining their memory usage, energy consumption, and execution time. The proposed method exhibits superior resistance to linear, differential, and biclique attacks in comparison with KDS-PRESENT, PRESENT-80, ANU, and LED-64. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
