Abstract: This paper investigates the adaptive tracking control problem for unknown nonlinear systems with time-varying delays. Within the framework integrating dynamic surface control (DSC) and prescribed performance control (PPC), a novel control scheme is developed under the constraint of zero-initial control input. By embedding a zero-initialization regulatory function into the control laws, the proposed scheme addresses two critical practical challenges: accurate filter initialization and the zero-initial control input requirement. It guarantees uniform ultimate boundedness of all closed-loop signals, constrains the tracking error within predefined performance bounds, and enforces the zero-initial condition for the control input. Simulation results for a pendulum system are presented to validate the theoretical derivations.and the zero-initial control input requirement.
