| Abstract: |
The article reports on the new Google SketchUp which is a free version of the SketchUp 3D modeling product it acquired during the purchase of the Last Software. The 3D Warehouse, a repository for sharing 3D content is also introduced by Google. It can hold both georeferenced and nongeoreferenced content. According to Brad Schell, Google aims to be the Switzerland of formats, that is why the company decided to support the SketchUp format but it has no intention of getting into the CAD space. Google hopes to encourage users to populate Google Earth with 3D Built models. |
