The author reflects on the role of science in public affairs and the standards of scientific work. He stated how U.S. Secretary of Commerce Sinclair Weeks has displayed a lack of understanding in the said issue by relieving National Bureau of Standards director Allen V. Astin and accusing the Bureau of a bias against business. He added that Weeks allegations has caused a great blow not only to the Bureau, but to other government research establishments as well. |
