| Abstract: |
The article reports on the study of the performance of the 5294 processor called Cray XT3 of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The study mentions that Cray XT3 is a processing system which uses a lightweight operating system called Catamount on its compute nodes. It provides the performance evaluation of the Cray XT3 which includes the measurements for micro-benchmark, kernel and application benchmarks. It also gives performance results of the Cray Xt3's application areas such as climate, biology, astrophysics, combustion, and fusion to the Department of Energy. The result of the study shows that Cray XT3 supplies competitive processor performance, high interconnect bandwidth, and parallel efficiency on different application workload. |
