| Abstract: | The article presents a study which investigates the effect of the copper (Cu) species on lipid metabolism in liver cells. To observe the size and distribution of lipid bodies in liver cells, coherent anti-Strokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy is utilized. Findings suggest that only an excess of complexed Cu result in significant increase in lipid content in liver cells. It was also discovered that Cu overload results in rapid and dramatic increase in lipid body formation. |
