| Abstract: |
The article reports on the use of numerical simulations to distinguish the behavior of spring steel during thermal treatment. Simulations have revealed that the chemical composition has a big effect on oxidation and on decarburization. Surface decarburization and oxidation happen simultaneously during the production procedure of spring steel. The decarburization depth has been approximated with the use of an approximation method and the oxidation rate has been depicted using linear growth laws. |
