| Abstract: |
The article discusses the initial report of prosobranch gastropod Tarebia granifera from Africa. This gastropod was found in a reservoir which supplies water to a paper mill at Mandeni in September 1999. Researchers found no indigenous snails in the reservoir but found low numbers of Physa acuta Draparnaud. This gastropod is medically important because it serves as the first intermediate host for the Asian lungfluke Paragonimus westermani. |
