Abstract: An integer optimization model for feedrate of smooth motion is developed to realize high-speed and smooth motion for high-speed computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools. In this model, the turning factor of the machining segments is transformed into the corresponding linked feedrate limit, and the axis feedrate and feed acceleration limits are also considered. Because the number of both decision variables and constraints of the model is large, it is hard for high-speed CNC systems to meet the real-time requirement by using general integer programming methods. By analyzing the relativity of feedrate sequences, the decision variables and constraints of the model are simplified. After that, the speed optimization method of smooth motion based on the optimal solution of the simplified model is detailed. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a good real-time performance and smooth feedrate for high-speed machining. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
