Rothschild & Sons Ltd., Saul Steinberg, chairman of Manhattan's Leasco Data Processing Equipment Corp. offered the bid. Steinberg pressed for more financial information, which resulted in a conflict. The resulting issue has become one of the longest in the British business history. Great Britain's overseer of commercial practices, the Board of Trade is investigating the controversy. |
