Abstract: The article focuses on author Albert Skira, who is described as a perfectionist when it comes to selecting paintings to be reproduced in his books. Figure shows that his "Lés Trésors de la Peinture Française" has sold a total of 1,000,000 copies in France and Switzerland. He is on a visit in Manhattan, New York City in May 1950 to promote the sales of his other works such as "The History of Modern Painting." The first artwork which he bought when he was 16 was a Picasso gouache.
