Abstract: The article discusses the strategies employed by museums in the U.S. to make art preservation more efficient and minimize environmental impact. Buro Happold Ltd. recommends the use of ground source geothermal heat pumps for the planned expansion of the Cincinnati Art Museum. Tight building controls are used at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (ISGM) to reduce energy wasted on environmental control and lighting. Underfloor ventilation system is installed at the Parrish Art Museum.
