| Abstract: |
The article presents a study which examines the mechanical properties of cancellous bovine bone for compression loading and links with microstructural description under different strain rates. The study uses 25 cylindrical specimens of distal parts of bovine femoral bones for microstructural characterisation. The study reveals that the architectural parameters including bone volume/total volume (BV/TV), degree of anisotropy (DA), and bone surface (BS) can predict bone stiffness and strength. |
