Abstract: Highlights: [•] Three different grain-sized surfaces were fabricated on a biomedical β-Ti alloy. [•] The separate role of grain size in regulation of osteoblast functions was studied. [•] Nano-grained surface showed superior osteoblast adhesion to the other two surfaces. [•] Enhanced osteoblast adhesion is related to the adsorbed total and anchoring proteins. [•] Cell differentiation and mineralization were also accelerated on nano-grained surface. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
