Abstract: Highlights: [•] Novel salts 1–2 of nicotinamide and isonicotinamide with 5-sulfosalicylic acid are prepared. [•] These salts are characterized by X-ray and IR studies as well as SGH measurements. [•] Salts 1 and 2 crystallize in Pca21 and Pbca space groups, respectively. [•] Crystal structure analysis revealed different structural hydrogen-bonded motifs to distinguish 1 and 2. [•] Salt 1 shows relatively efficient second harmonic frequency generation.
