Abstract: In this paper, computer-aided software is developed for thermodynamic analysis of steam power plants. Using this software entropy generation, entransy dissipation, work output, effectiveness of heat exchangers and outlet temperatures of heating/ cooling fluids of heat exchangers are found. Entropy generation ratio, entransy dissipation ratio and work output ratio are found and then curves for these ratios are generated. These curves facilitate the recognition of the condition at which values of entropy generation and entransy dissipation are as low as possible and work output as high as possible. Steam power plants work on Rankine cycle (with reheat and regeneration process) which has two isentropic processes. In this work, isentropic efficiencies for steam turbine and pump are also taken into account. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
