The article explores the potential of rationale development to provide intellectual professional development to social studies teachers. Topics discussed include the idea that purpose matters in teaching social studies and the connection between a teacher's developing sense of purpose and student's learning. Also presented is the role of the rationale development process in improving professionalism. |
